Micro Grants

JQ Common Room Micro Grants are an exciting opportunity for local organisations, residents, and businesses to apply for a grant and put on an event, activity or installation which will attract people to the area!

You might have a great idea that needs some help to get off the ground, or you might already be doing something that you’d like to make bigger or more accessible. You may wish to open a little later and attract local residents after work, or perhaps you need a piece of kit which will help put on an event. Microgrants can help you do this.

Grants will be either ‘capital’ - i.e. to buy physical things which last 5+ years, or ‘revenue’ - e.g. for printing flyers or paying staff.

Grants range from £10 - £1000 and there’s guidance below on which is which, what the criteria are, and how to apply. Round One is open 26 March - 11 April 2025 and Round Two is 23 May - 11 June 2025.

Revenue Grant

REVENUE GRANTS are for non-physical or short-term things. These might cover staff wages to host new events, professional advice, marketing, or artist time for running activities, training.

Ideally, these grants will be used to create a buzz about the Jewellery Quarter, so they could be used to kickstart or upscale a regular event.

The conditions of the JQ Common Room overall grant are focussed on capital so competition for revenue grants is expected to be high.

Capital Grant

CAPITAL GRANTS are for physical assets that provide long-term value and sustainability. Typically, they will be for things, equipment or installations that last 5 years or more, so they could be for lighting, PA systems, public art, staging or equipment for a regular group activity to run in one locally.

The larger the grant application, the higher the expectation that the asset will be made available for wider community use, for a small fee, when not being used by the applicant. Having shared assets for continuing use will be looked on favourably.
